Life Coaching is considered a collaborative approach to helping folks implement the strategies and plans for change. It is as it sounds-coaching, in practical ways, to provide hands-on techniques. Life Coaching is not necessarily “therapy,” although it certainly is “therapeutic.” Support, teaching, guidance and encouragement seem to describe this approach, which I have called “Therapy-Light.” Occasionally, clients benefit more with Life Coaching then from in-depth therapy.
Why use the cannon, when a slingshot will do the job?! I usually apply the ‘Law of Parsimony’ to many of life’s problems, trying the most simple, common sense intervention BEFORE going in to more depth.
